Jennifer Granick, DVM, MS, PhD, Diplomate ACVIM (SAIM) is an associate professor of small animal internal medicine at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. She received her D.V.M. from the University of Wisconsin, completed a small animal internal medicine residency and Masters of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota, and a Ph.D. in Comparative Pathology from the University of California. She co-chairs the WSAVA’s Therapeutics Committee, is a member of the AVMA’s Committee on Antimicrobials, and co-directs the University of Minnesota’s Antimicrobial Resistance and Stewardship Initiative. Her research focuses on antimicrobial use in companion animals.

Maria Killos, DVM, MS, DACVAA graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004, and completed a rotating small animal internship at Tufts University. She received specialized training in anesthesia at the University of Minnesota and became a board-certified veterinary anesthesiologist in 2009. With a passion for teaching, Dr. Killos became an instructor of veterinary anesthesiology and pain management and taught at North Carolina State University, Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, and the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Killos joined Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota in June of 2023.

Andrew Bean, DVM, MPH, DABVP (Exotic Companion Mammal Practice) graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. He completed an internship in small, exotic, and zoo animal practice at Valley Animal Hospital in Tucson, AZ, then went on to practice alongside and be mentored by Peter Fisher, DVM, DABVP (Exotic Companion Mammal Practice) at Pet Care Veterinary Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA. Andrew became board-certified in Exotic Companion Mammal Practice in 2020, and is currently in exotics-exclusive referral practice at the Animal Emergency and Referral Center of Minnesota. He is published in the Journal of Exotic Pet Medicine and Veterinary Clinics of North America: Exotic Animal Practice, and has authored textbook chapters in Blackwell’s Five Minute Veterinary Consult: Avian, and Exotic Animal Emergency and Critical Care. He is particularly passionate about guinea pigs.

Sally Ryan, DVM, SHRM-CP is an enthusiastic and experienced leader in the veterinary industry. She obtained her Bachelors in Animal Science at the University of Vermont and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine. She has worked as a shelter, primary care and emergency veterinarian. For almost twenty years, she led a multi-site emergency veterinary organization as medical director. She currently works as an IDEXX Professional Services Veterinarian in the Upper Midwest. In this role, she provides continual education on variety of topics related to veterinary diagnostics.

Amy O'Brien, DMV,MPH, CHP is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Primary Care at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. O'Brien graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2015 and started her veterinary career at a small local clinic in Chaska, MN before returning to her alma mater to teach Primary Care in 2017. As a veterinarian, she has a passion for building a relationship with owners to help reinforce the human animal bond. As a teacher, she enjoys the challenge of teaching students and encouraging them to utilize their knowledge to provide a spectrum of options that meet the goals of the owner. Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. She is an avid golfer and Minnesota Vikings fan.

Katherine Theobold, DVM received a bachelor’s degree from Marquette University in biomedical engineering. After two summer internships at a medical device company, she realized her love for pets and their owners was far greater than her love for engineering and math. Dr. Theobold graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017.  She joined Boehringer Ingelheim as a professional services veterinarian in 2025. Her favorite part of being a veterinarian is forming relationships with owners and supporting the human-animal bond.

Marlyse Wehber, DMV, 3rd Year Dermatology Resident attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for her Bachelor of Science in biology and veterinary school. In her second year she had her first class in dermatology and knew that it would be the career path she would follow. After graduation in 2021, she worked as a small animal general practitioner near Minneapolis. Her time in general practice allowed her to solidify her interest in skin, ear, and allergies conditions of pets, which ultimately led to her pursuit of a residency in veterinary dermatology at Pet Dermatology Clinic. She is passionate about every aspect of dermatology and has a particular interest in atopic dermatitis, ear disease, and immune-mediated disease.
